Contribution of GHRM to Circular Economy in India
摘要
This study paper explores the integration of Circular Economy (CE) principles and Green Human Resource Management (GHRM) practices within the Indian context, addressing a significant gap in understanding the role of human resources in achieving CE goals. While CE and GHRM are recognized for their potential to enhance environmental sustainability and organizational efficiency, their application remains limited to a macro-level focus, neglecting micro-level and sector-specific implementations. Using a mixed-method approach, including a Systematic Literature Review via the PRISMA framework and document analysis, this study investigated CE adoption across 179 Scopus-indexed publications from 2017 to 2024. The findings reveal promising developments in sectors such as energy, waste management, and biotechnology, whereas industries such as manufacturing, banking, and fashion remain underexplored. GHRM practices, including green recruitment, training, and performance appraisals, indirectly support CE goals by fostering eco-friendly employee behaviors and organizational citizenship. The proposed Outcome-Based CE-GHRM Integration Framework offers a novel approach to aligning HR strategies with CE principles, ensuring a holistic, organization-wide application. This study provides actionable recommendations, including extending CE adoption to underrepresented states and sectors, fostering cross-sector collaborations, and developing standardised metrics to measure GHRM’s impact of GHRM on CE objectives. These insights inform policymakers, practitioners, and researchers by highlighting the critical role of HR in achieving India’s twin goals of economic growth and environmental sustainability. The study’s contribution lies in bridging the gap between CE theory and practice, advancing the discourse on sustainable development in emerging economies.
