Electric Vehicles as a Pathway to Decarbonisation in India: Assessing the Environmental Benefits and Challenges of EV Adoption for Sustainable Tomorrow
摘要
Electric vehicles (EVs) are essential for decarbonisation since they replace internal combustion engine vehicles that run on fossil fuels, drastically lowering greenhouse gas emissions. EVs improve energy efficiency, reduce air pollution, and support energy independence by reducing reliance on fossil fuels. They also help create a better energy ecosystem. A thorough assessment of the literature and the opinions of experts have led to the identification of sixteen drivers of EV adoption. ISM is applied to establish a hierarchical paradigm for the drivers affecting the purchase of electric vehicles and to develop the contextual relationships among select drivers. Overcoming higher purchase prices and improved performance in extreme conditions have emerged as an important driver of EV adoption followed by limited environmental impact concerns among consumers. The findings of the study will help marketers better position EVs as creative, cost-effective, and sustainable options, which will ease consumers’ transition to EV adoption. Furthermore, it is anticipated that the broad usage of electric vehicles (EVs) will primarily benefit the environment by lowering greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, and aiding in the battle against climate change.
