Innovative Strategies for Pesticide Reduction and Management in Postharvest Produce
摘要
Food is vital for energy and nutrients essential to homeostasis. However, it is contaminated with pesticide residue at more than an acceptable level, particularly in fruits and vegetables. In order to control their residue level before the processing stage, various techniques can be applied for safe consumption to reduce the long-term ill effects on human health. This review paper can help industrialists and scholars to check and evaluate their method of approach in pesticide management.
Recent FindingsApart from pesticide reduction, microbial toxins, allergens, contaminants, and biohazards could also be reduced with effective combined methods. There is a pretty good chance of achieving 100% removal for some chemical compounds and the reduction efficiency is varied based on the techniques, produce nature, degradation mechanism and composition.
SummaryMost of the techniques from conventional to novel technologies including artificial intelligence, sensor precision and the hurdle concept strategy also discussed here. For better and safe food consumption, pesticide usage can be regulated and residues can be reduced with those innovative techniques cum with several strategies.
