摘要

The protection of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) is increasingly challenged by globalization and the transformation of social processes. ICH, which relies heavily on oral transmission and practice, is at risk of change or extinction. This paper explores how digital technology can aid in the conservation and enhancement of cultural artefacts, focusing on the transformative role of the Internet. This qualitative study investigates the integration of traditional practices with modern technology using secondary data sources. The analysis applies a qualitative thematic synthesis approach to interpret and compare platform functions, accessibility features, and preservation mechanisms across secondary data sources. Two case-study examples used in this analysis are traditional Chinese folk music and bamboo flute music. Digital platforms such as YouTube and the Internet Archive expand global access while supporting long-term digital preservation of cultural heritage. The research underscores the critical role of the Internet in ICH conservation due to its global reach, flexibility, and dynamic nature in the digital era. This study contributes to ongoing discussions about the application of new digital tools in the promotion and preservation of cultural heritage on a global scale. By examining the use of digital technologies, the research highlights the potential of online spaces in safeguarding cultural traditions, ensuring that they remain accessible and relevant in an evolving world. Furthermore, the study addresses the need for a comprehensive digital strategy to protect ICH and suggests how traditional cultural practices can be revitalized and shared across diverse communities through modern technological platforms.
