<p>The Permanent Income Hypothesis (PIH) is grounded in an intertemporal optimization model of consumer behaviour, widely regarded as one of the most coherent and logically consistent frameworks. By employing a bibliometric analysis, the main objective of this research is to examine the household consumption function under PIH. This paper will be focused on systematically documenting the intellectual structure, volume, tendencies of knowledge development, the author, and source impact. Literature was obtained from the Scopus database and analysed using R Studio. The findings from the bibliometric analysis will identify the research trends by gaining insights into the structure and dynamics of scientific knowledge. In addition, the bibliometric review can reveal the evolution of research themes and allow a comparative analysis approach to be used to examine studies across different countries. Lastly, this study will forecast future research directions by anticipating the shifts in research focus and opening up new avenues of study extension with established contributions.</p>
