摘要

On the basis of obtained data from Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS 2018-19 and 2021-22), the present study tries to estimate the change in employment pattern in rural and urban Odisha during pre and post pandemic periods. The study reveals that both the LFPR (Labour force participation rate) and the WFPR (Work force participation rate) have increased during this period and the unemployment rate has declined in Odisha like the national level reflecting no impact of COVID pandemic on labour market. Gender wise analysis reflects that male participation in self-employed and casual labourers in the state has increased but the percentage of engagement as regular salaried labourer has fallen sharply during the post pandemic period. The disaggregate analysis further explores that the southern region of Odisha is more prominent in increase in primary sector employment as compared to the other two NSS regions of Odisha. The study suggests that the collaboration between government agencies, businesses, civil society organizations, and local communities is needed to address employment challenges during post pandemic effectively and promote inclusive economic growth in Odisha.
