Digital wellness initiatives and their effect on work life integration and emotional resilience among healthcare staff
摘要
Healthcare professionals across Gujarat, particularly in government hospitals in Ahmedabad and Surat and private multispecialty hospitals in Rajkot and Vadodara, often experience psychological strain and physical stress due to high caseloads, emotionally demanding work, and staffing shortages. This study evaluated the efficacy of a 21-day digital wellness program designed for nurses and direct care workers on rotational shifts. A total of 146 participants were randomized into intervention and waitlist control groups. The program delivered adaptive self-care strategies, motivational reminders, well-being check-ins, and stress-reduction exercises via mobile access. Outcomes were measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). Results showed moderate-to-high program engagement (M = 3.86, SD = 0.71), improved work-life integration (M = 3.72, SD = 0.83), high emotional resilience (M = 69.12, SD = 12.18), and moderate stress levels (M = 17.08, SD = 6.73). Work-life integration functioned as a partial mediator between wellness engagement and resilience (indirect effect = 0.12; 95% CI: 0.045–0.210). Regression analysis indicated that digital wellness initiatives predicted significantly higher resilience (β = 0.35, p <.001) and lower stress (β = − 0.30, p <.001). Private hospital employees reported greater resilience (M = 70.98 vs. 67.42) and lower stress (M = 16.21 vs. 17.86) compared to government staff. Findings suggest that Digital wellness initiatives, tailored to cultural preferences, can boost resilience, reduce stress, and promote work-life balance, especially for younger nurses on rotational shifts, thereby strengthening workforce well-being.
