<p>Corruption affects numerous countries’ efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by all UN member states in 2015, as Agenda 2030. This paper focuses on Bolivia and Peru to identify the effects of political corruption within the extraction of natural resources. The study further examines the impact of corruption and the SDGs in the aspects of politics, economy, society, and environment in those two countries. Also, the paper recommends potential solutions to combat corruption issues. First, the study identifies the importance of extractive industries for both Bolivia and Peru. Second, the study breaks down three natural resource areas where political corruption exists in both countries. Third, the study examines the effects of the SDGs in the aspect of politics, economy, society, and the environment. Lastly, the study provides recommendations to reduce political corruption, mitigate the effects of political corruption and initiate reforms in extractive industries.</p>
