<p>This study explores the astronomical significance of 13–15 April, celebrated as the new year in parts of South Asia and Southeast Asia. An analemma, representing the Sun’s position in the sky at the same time each day over a year, reveals a figure-eight curve with intersections occurring around 13–15 April. By analysing the analemma curve and utilizing online tools to calculate the Sun path, this research investigates the alignment between the 13–15 April new year and the celestial phenomenon. The study examines the correlation between the Sun’s position directly overhead at Rameswaram, a strategic location, and the selection of 13–15 April as the New Year date. This study provides valuable insights into the ancient astronomical considerations that influenced cultural traditions and calendar systems.</p>
