<p>Global climate, ecosystem, and environmental changes are predominantly influenced by changes in land-use and land-cover (LU-LC). Management of environmental friendly resources and sustainable development requires a thorough understanding of the complexities of LU-LC modifications. The research area is the suburban region of Berhampore of the Murshidabad district of West Bengal. Both natural &amp; artificial causes, such as population increase and urbanization, as well as climate change, have brought about modifications to LU-LC. The present investigation has focused on forecasting the future LU-LC trends and examining spatiotemporal modifications. To investigate the LU-LC changes from 1991 to 2021, an image classification method developed by a Geographic Information System (GIS) was implemented. The MOLUSCE plugin of QGIS implements the Cellular Automata–Artificial Neural Network (CA-ANN) framework to figure out LU-LC in the years to come between 2036 and 2051. In 1991 and 2021, the overall kappa was 0.77 &amp; 0.834, respectively, while the overall accuracy of LULC was 0.814 and 0.884, respectively. The open space has increased by around 15.61% and the builtup area by approximately 30.83 percent right through the preceding 30&#xa0;years. Between 1991 and 2021, there was a downward trend in LU-LC changes for water bodies, agricultural fields with current fallow, and forest cover of 6.23%, 24.48%, and 15.74%, respectively. A comparable pattern to prior years can be observed by the LU-LC predictions for 2036 and 2051, which demonstrate an upsurge trend in builtup area and an overall drop in forest cover, waterbody, open space, and agricultural land with current fallow. This in-depth examination of long-term modifications in landuse and landcover is an invaluable resource for planners and lawmakers who are interested in advancing sustainable development and effective environmental management in the studied region.</p>
