Simplified SVPWM in the abcγ coordinate frame for three-level four-leg NPC converters
摘要
The three-level four-leg (3L4L) neutral-point-clamped converter serves as a key topology for grid-connected inverters, which offers full utilization of the DC-link voltage. However, conventional modulation techniques for 3L4L converters are often complex. Simplifying modulation strategies is an effective approach to alleviate challenges in high switching frequency applications, such as silicon carbide (SiC). To address this issue, this study first proposes a universal simplified space vector pulse width modulation method. This method uses a universal action time expression to calculate the conduction time of each switch device, which eliminates the need for switch sequence selection, spatial tetrahedral recognition, and complex logical decision-making. Second, a capacitor voltage balancing strategy based on capacitor charge balance is proposed to enhance the practicality of this simplified modulation. This approach can achieve midpoint potential balance in the inverter without the additional control strategies. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed modulation method is verified using key experiments.
