<p>In this study, a carrier-based unified pulse width modulation (UPWM) technique with virtual offset signal injection is proposed for single-phase H-bridge inverters. Thus, the previous modulation methods, such as frequency doubling unipolar sinusoidal PWM (FDU-SPWM), hybrid sinusoidal PWM (HSPWM), and symmetric hybrid sinusoidal PWM (SHSPWM), can be realized by simply changing the virtual offset signal. This approach enables seamless switching between different modulation schemes in a more straightforward manner. Moreover, DPWMMAX and DPWMMIN for single-phase H-bridge inverters are proposed on the basis of the UPWM technique. By considering the inverter’s operation, the proposed UPWM method is explained and analyzed in detail. Simulation and experimental results validate the proposed method.</p>
