摘要

The electrical power systems (EPSs) of geostationary orbit (GEO) satellites are typically designed with a regulated bus to ensure stable power delivery to the satellite’s loads. In particular, when designing the EPS for a GEO satellite with a regulated bus, a battery discharge regulator (BDR) is essential to supply the necessary power to the loads during eclipses (i.e., when the solar array does not generate power). The conventional Weinberg converter is often used in BDRs due to its continuous input and output currents, soft-switching operation of switches, absence of reverse recovery issues with diodes, and high efficiency. However, this converter has some limitations. For example, when the switches are turned off and the diodes begin commutating, the output current increases rapidly, resulting in substantial output current and voltage ripple. This issue directly affects the total capacitance of the bus capacitor. Furthermore, this factor is closely related to the size of the GEO satellite. This paper proposes a converter that reduces output current ripple by using an additional link capacitor and adding an auxiliary winding to the coupled inductor. The proposed converter was validated with a prototype rated at 750 W.
