Network-Based Perceptions and Relational Outcomes: An Actor-partner Interdependence Modeled Approach
摘要
Myriad research has explored the ways in which people in close relationships communicate with and about their social networks. Scant, but emerging work has documented the ways in which such perceptions/communication alter dyadic perceptions/communication between couples. The present study used dyadic data (N = 80 couples) to explore the actor and partner effects of network based perceptions on dyadic perceptions, relational communication, and network-based relational communication. Results revealed several actor and partner effects between multiple predictor and outcome variables. Specifically measures of network uncertainty and network interdependence/facilitation shared a variety of significant associations with measures of relationship satisfaction, intimacy, relational talk, and network-based relational talk. Results are discussed in terms of their theoretical, methodological, and applied contributions.
