<p>As mobile devices become more popular, they store an ever-increasing amount of valuable information. This widespread use makes them particularly vulnerable to security issues and challenges, as smartphones often hold private and sensitive data, making them attractive targets for cyberattacks. Addressing these security threats through comprehensive security testing is essential for protecting user data and maintaining the integrity of mobile systems. The aim of this paper is to investigate security testing techniques for mobile devices. A systematic mapping study (SMS) published in 2022 containing papers from January 2011 and January 2022 was updated to identify solutions focused on software security testing for mobile devices by including papers published between 2022 and 2024. In the previous study, 1.264 primary papers were identified, and 17 relevant papers were selected. In the updated review, 82 primary studies were analyzed, and 15 relevant papers were selected. Our findings reinforce the results of the previous review. We found mobile security testing tends to be mostly dynamic, automated testing, penetration testing, and dynamic analysis. Dynamic testing represents 40.63% of security testing, followed by static testing, 25.00%, and studies that present both of them at 25%. It’s important to highlight that automated testing represents 44.44% semi-automated testing represents 36.11% of the studies, and only 8.33% used manual testing.</p>
