Social Work Students’ Attitudes about Immigrants and Immigration: Implications for Social Work Educators

During the previous Trump administration, disinformation about immigrants became widespread, and policies and regulations were enacted that disenfranchised United States immigrant communities. This article presents the findings of a study that assessed social work students’ attitudes toward immigrants and immigration. This research was undertaken during the 2018 and 2019 academic years across eight accredited social work programs to examine social work students’ attitudes toward immigrants and immigration. This one-group pretest/posttest study collected data from 417 unique students and utilized the scale developed by Park et al. (
