Sustainable Use of Reclaimed Waste Foundry Sand Fines in Concrete
摘要
The construction and foundry industries extensively use fresh riverbed sand. To minimize the usage of fresh sand in the concrete and to explore the beneficial applications of the waste foundry sand fines generated after the reclamation process, the presented work focuses on the sustainable use of reclaimed waste foundry sand fines (r-WFS fines) for the partial replacement of fresh sand in concrete. The physical and chemical properties of the fresh sand and r-WFS fines have been studied in detail, while improvement in the mechanical properties was observed after partially replacing the fresh sand in the concrete with the r-WFS fines.
