Design and Performance Testing of the 4GS-457 Low-Loss Soybean Combine Harvester Header
摘要
To address the high header loss and grain breakage during soybean mechanized harvesting in China, a 4GS-457 low-loss soybean header was designed. The aim was to improve harvesting performance, reduce header loss rates, and enhance the efficiency of soybean mechanization, contributing to the advancement of sustainable agricultural practices.
MethodsThe 4GS-457 header integrates multiple functions, including crop separation, gathering, cutting, and conveying, with an innovative eccentric reel structure designed to reduce damage to soybean pods during harvesting. Key parameters such as reel speed, installation height, and horizontal position were optimized using cycloidal motion trajectory analysis and Box-Behnken response surface methodology to minimize loss and improve harvesting efficiency. Field experiments were conducted to validate the header’s performance under typical conditions in soybean-producing regions of China, with optimized settings of reel speed (14 r/min), installation height (105 mm), and horizontal position (50 mm).
ResultsField validation revealed that the header loss rate was 1.42%, significantly lower than the industry standard of 2%. The stubble height was maintained at 100 ± 10 mm, ensuring optimal soybean pod harvesting with a harvesting rate exceeding 98%. The operational efficiency of the header reached 0.69 hm2/h, demonstrating its effectiveness in large-scale soybean harvesting operations. The innovative design features, such as the eccentric reel structure, reduced mechanical damage to pods, improving both soybean quality and yield.
ConclusionThe 4GS-457 low-loss soybean header proved to be highly reliable and practical for mechanized soybean harvesting in China. The optimized design not only reduced losses but also increased harvesting efficiency, providing essential technical support for the widespread adoption of mechanized harvesting equipment in the soybean industry. Future efforts should focus on further improving adaptability to different field conditions and enhancing the integration of intelligent technologies for even greater efficiency and sustainability in soybean production.
