Novel Design Strategies of One Coil Type Permanent Magnet Actuator for Offshore Wind Power System

The offshore wind power offers advantages such as vast installation areas and efficient utilization of wind resources, but it also poses technical challenges in meeting the dual demands of stability and efficiency under extreme environmental conditions. The dry air insulation technology and the design of permanent magnet actuator (PMA) systems is applied in ring main units (RMUs) and high-voltage switchgear. Additionally, PMA design leverages the interaction between permanent magnets and electromagnets to achieve high-speed operation and robust holding force, ensuring the stability of offshore wind power systems. In this paper, the design strategies and guidelines to achieve target specifications for key parameters in PMA design, such as the opening and closing speed of the mover and holding force, is proposed, using the numerical and analytical methods. Finally, a prototype model is manufactured and tested to verify the proposed method.
