Dynamic Participation of Wind Farms in Frequency Control and Automatic Generation Control
摘要
The increasing human demand for electrical energy in the present century, coupled with limitations within fossil fuel preserves and growing environmental concerns, has led to the expansion of the use of renewable energies in recent decades. These energy sources were previously not actively considered in power grid operation due to their lack of contribution to the grid frequency control, exclusion from frequency control models, or incomplete modeling, often being viewed as negative network loads. However, the rising trend in the utilization of renewable energies necessitates the dynamic involvement of these energy sources in frequency regulation, a consideration previously overlooked. The objective of this paper is to utilize wind farms as controllable power sources for participating in network frequency control. To achieve this, a wind farm model is developed, and an appropriate control method for wind farms is proposed based on this model. Subsequently, multiple scenarios for wind farm participation in frequency control are examined. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control method for wind farm participation in network frequency regulation.
