Exploring the Genetic Algorithm for Coordinated Generator Maintenance Scheduling in a Competitive Electricity Market
摘要
In a competitive electricity market, there may be intense conflicts between the system operator (SO) whose crucial role is to ensure a stable, reliable grid and the generating companies (GENCOs) seeking to maximize their own profits. Particularly, when making a preventive generator maintenance schedule, the SO will be likely to coordinate the individual GENCOs’ proposals for maintaining the system’s reliability, which will inevitably lead to a significant reduction in their profitability. In this context, the paper primarily sets out to investigate the genetic algorithm-based generator maintenance scheduling scheme with a view to compromising between the SOs public benefit and the GENCOs’ interests. To this end, a scenario-based case study will be carried out to gauge the general applicability and validity of the proposed framework in a competitive environment.
