<p>Melon fruit fly, <i>Bactrocera cucurbitae</i> (Coquillett) (Tephritidae: Diptera), a major pest of cucurbit crops, leads to substantial economic losses in tropical and subtropical regions in cucurbit fruits and vegetable crop production systems. Newer insecticides under field condition have farmers concerns in effective control issues. Documentation and cross-resistance studies provide basis to lead for their better use. Low resistance to abamectin, emamectin benzoate, afidopyropen, novaluron, lufenuron, and spirotetramat exhibited by different populations make them suitable candidate in fruit fly management. Low to moderate resistance for clothianidin, thiamethoxam, nitenpyram, and chlorantraniliprole, and moderate to high for fipronil, tetraniliprole and chitin synthesis inhibitors shows concerns for their wise and rotational use with some correlation and resistance development to emamectin confirms early management. Imidacloprid, abamectin, emamectin benzoate and chlorfenapyr has been suggested to control it with possible delay in resistance.</p>
