<p>Temperate conditions witness a huge reserve of unexplored bio-control agents. One such agent is the tachinid fly, which observed to be an emerging natural enemy of lepidopterous pest, Oriental armyworm, <i>Mythimna separata</i> (Walker) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) larvae and of coleopteran longhorn beetle, <i>Aeolesthes sarta</i> (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) under cold conditions. Collection and molecular identification of this parasitoid was done at Faculty of Agriculture, Wadura, SKUAST-Kashmir and NBAIR, Bengaluru during 2023–2024. It was identified to be <i>Tachina</i> sp. with an absolute 100 per cent sequence similarity with <i>Tachina sobria</i>. Phylogentic tree construction was done to know the evolutionary relationships and distance of different Tachinid fly species among each other. It was reported for the first time of this useful organism in North Kashmir. The parasitisation percentage was reported to be 35 and 20 per cent in <i>M. separata</i> collected from adjacent and distant maize field respectively and 13 per cent in <i>Aeolesthes sarta.</i> Buckwheat, <i>Fagopyrum esculentum</i> recorded a high population of this parasitoid because of its abundant floral reserve in terms of nectar, proving to be an excellent parasitoid food resource. Knowing its immense potential in biocontrol of such devastating pests, proper conservation and utilisation needs to be studied in future.</p>
