<p><i>Prostephanus truncatus</i> is the main insect pest of stored corn cobs in Africa and in the north of Côte d’Ivoire. Despite the extensive damages due to this pest, no control measures have yet been taken to reduce its spread. The aim of this study is to update the main biodemographic parameters of <i>P. truncatus</i>, in order to build up a database for implementing an up-to-date, appropriate and sustainable control strategy. In the laboratory, 30 insect breeding pairs were reared on corn and bioecological parameters were determined. After sexing, each pair formed was monitored inside a 90&#xa0;mm diameter Petri dish. The biological parameters determined were sexual maturity, laying period, fecundity, fertility, development period, emergence rate and lifespan. Also, two ecological parameters, such as the sex ratio and the intrinsic rate of increase, were determined. The insect is able to develop in conditions of temperature and humidity that are not optimal for its development. Fecundity was 22.90 ± 5.63 eggs with an emergence rate of 53.71 ± 14.52% and a lifespan of 71.02 ± 7.45 days for females and 47.20 ± 6.47 for males. This study has provided an updated database on the bio-ecological parameters of <i>P. truncatus</i>.</p>
