摘要

The bay leaf (Syzygium polyanthum) contains several compounds that can be used as botanical fumigants to control Araecerus fasciculatus De Geer (Coleoptera: Anthribidae). However, bay leaf tablet fumigants with short exposure times have never been tested for their repellency and toxicity against A. fasciculatus. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the repellent and toxic effects of bay leaf tablet fumigants on the internal feeder stored product pest A. fasciculatus. Seven concentrations of bay leaf tablet fumigant (i.e., 0, 1.25, 2.50, 3.75, 5.00, 6.25, and 7.50 mL/L air) were employed in the study; each concentration was repeated four times and determined in a completely randomized design (CRD). The repellency index and the mortality of eggs, larvae, pupae, and adult A. fasciculatus were the variables that were observed. The results demonstrated that at concentrations of 6.25 and 7.50 mL/L air, the repellency indices of bay leaf tablet fumigants against A. fasciculatus were greater and substantially different from those at other concentrations. With a 7.50 mL/L air concentration, bay leaf tablet fumigants are categorized as having an extreme repellency index (80.67%). Furthermore, at 6.25 and 7.50 mL/L air, the fumigant toxicity of the bay leaf tablet fumigant against larvae, pupae, and adults was 100%, which was greater than that of the other concentrations at 24, 48, and 72 h. Eventually, at the maximum concentration (6.25 and 7.50 mL/L air), bay leaf tablet fumigants showed considerable repellent and toxic effects against A. fasciculatus.
