<p>The cicada genus <i>Paranosia</i> is reviewed based on the description of one new species, <i>Paranosia himachalensis</i> <b>sp. n.</b>, from India. We collected samples of the new species utilizing a sweeping hand net. Upon collection, we excised two legs and a segment of the thoracic tissues to isolate DNA for molecular analysis. Sequences of the specified additional species were retrieved from GenBank. Photos of the habitus and genitalia are provided. The phylogenetic relationships of <i>Paranosia</i> and related taxa, and phylogenetic relationships within <i>Paranosia</i> species are discussed according to the molecular phylogeny constructed based on the concatenated dataset of three genes (<i>COI</i> + <i>EF- 1α</i> + <i>ARD1</i>). A key to species of <i>Paranosia</i> is provided.</p>
