<p>This article explains the term “Deutungskämpfe”, a&#xa0;kind of struggle over meaning, which is central to the Interdisciplinary Center for Peace and Conflict Research in Bavaria. The contribution begins by illustrating the relevance of “Deutungskämpfe” for peace and conflict research. It then provides insights into various academic studies and disciplinary contexts in which the term “Deutungskämpfe” is used. Following from this, a&#xa0;conflict-theoretical conceptualization of the term is presented, with which the specific characteristics of the conflict constellation of a&#xa0;Deutungskampf are worked out. The article concludes with a&#xa0;peace perspective on Deutungskämpfe.</p>
