摘要

The present investigation aimed to assess genetic variability and yield-related traits among diverse urdbean (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) genotypes grown under the subtropical conditions of the Jammu region. A set of genotypes was evaluated for key agro-morphological and seed yield traits using standard statistical approaches, including variability estimates, correlation analysis, principal component analysis, and multivariate clustering. Considerable variation was observed among the genotypes for most of the studied traits, indicating substantial scope for genetic improvement. Seed yield exhibited strong associations with several component traits, highlighting their importance in selection strategies. Multivariate analysis revealed that a limited number of traits accounted for the majority of genetic divergence among the genotypes. Overall, the study identified promising genotypes and trait combinations that can be effectively exploited in urdbean breeding programs aimed at improving yield performance under similar agro-ecological conditions.
