Evaluation of growth and yield potential of turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) under agri-silviculture system in Middle Gangetic Plains of Uttar Pradesh, India
摘要
A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of manure and fertilizer on the growth and rhizome yield of turmeric under shisham-based agri-silviculture system from 2022 to 2024 at the main experimental station (MES) agroforestry, ANDUAT, Kumarganj, Ayodhya (U.P.), India. The experiment consisting of eleven treatments [T1—Control, T2—100% recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF), T3—100% farm yard manure (FYM), T4—75% RDF + 25% FYM, T5—50% RDF + 50% FYM, T6—100% Poultry manures, T7—75% RDF + 25% Poultry manures, T8—50% RDF + 50% Poultry manures, T9—100% Press mud, T10—75% RDF + 25% Press mud, T11—50% RDF + 50% Press mud], were laid out in randomized block design (RBD) with three replications of each treatment. Data on the growth and yield of turmeric was collected from randomly selected 10 healthy plants in each experimental plot and analyzed at the 5% level of significance. During the investigation, among all the treatments, the growth and yield attributes of turmeric were recorded highest for T2 (100% RDF) followed by T4 (75% RDF + 25% FYM) and T7 (75% RDF + 25% Poultry manures) and lowest for T1 (Control). Based on the present investigation, it can be suggested that turmeric performs better with the application of 100% RDF or 75% RDF + 25% Poultry manures/FYM in a Shisham-based agri-silviculture system.
