<p><i>Hygrophila phlomoides</i> Nees. (Acanthaceae) is reported here as a new record for the Eastern Ghats, India. The species was collected from swampy habitats at Dangmal in Bhitarkanika National Park and Sahadevkhunta of Odisha. Identification was confirmed through detailed morphological study and comparison with authenticated herbarium specimens. This record extends the known distributional range of <i>H. phlomoides</i> within India. A detailed botanical description, updated nomenclature, phenology, distribution, and a coloured photo plate are provided to facilitate easy identification of the species in the field.</p>
