<p><i>Stauntonia</i> DC. is a genus of woody climbers that belongs to the family Lardizabalaceae. A prominent and peculiar woody climber was collected and identified as <i>Stauntonia grandiflora</i> (Réaub.) Christenh. On scrutiny of literature and herbarium consultation, the authors came across that it is collected and reported here for the first time for Indian flora from Neora Valley National Park, Darjeeling-Sikkim Himalayas. The name also warrants typification for the correct application of the name. Hence, the name is lectotypified here. A brief description, phenology, distribution, and a photo plate have been provided for its easy identification in the field.</p>
