Effect of liquid biofertilizers and soil nutrient management on yield attributes and productivity of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)

Chickpeas are a vital source of inexpensive vegetable protein for those individuals who can’t afford meat for protein supplement. Since the world’s energy needs and contributing to global efforts to reduce hunger. Chickpea is not a nutrient-intensive crop, but it still needs balanced fertilization to perform at its best. Many plant metabolic processes require balanced nutrition to produce yield in higher quantity with improved quality. To learn more about the impact of liquid biofertilizers under different amount of fertilizers a field experiment was conducted to evaluate “The the efficacy of different liquid bio-fertilizers under varying fertility levels on yield and yield attributes of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) for two consecutive years during Rabi seasons of 2015-16 and 2016-17 on loamy sand soil. In all twenty eight treatment combinations consisting of four fertility levels i.e. control (F0), 50%N + 75%P2O5 + 75%K2O + 50%S (F1), 75%N + 85%P2O5 + 85%K2O + 75% S (F2) and 100% NPKS (F3) and seven liquid biofertilizer and their combinations i.e. control (B0), Rhizobium (B1), PSB + PMM (P-s(B4), SSB (S-solublizer) (B5) and Rhizobium + PSB + PMM + KMB + SSB (B6) were laid out in split plot design with three replication. Integrating liquid biofertilizers (B6) and fertility levels (F3) produced the highest number of pods per plant, grains per pod, seed index) grain, straw and biological yield. The highest amounts of yield and yield components were obtained in F3B6 treatment. Comparison of interactions showed that F3B6 was the most productive treatment. This might be due to the better utilization of nutrient that applied through chemical fertilizer by the action of biofertilizers that solubilize and mobilize fixed nutrient. Uses of liquid biofertilizers with adequate amount of chemical fertilizers can increased the productivity of chickpea crop as well as quality of produce.
