<p>In view of sustainable rice production and the impact of harmful pesticides on the environment and humankind, this study aimed to investigate the efficacy of solvent-based plant extracts on major insect pests of rice in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. Among the botanicals tested, <i>Vitex negundo</i> was found to be most effective with a 60.51%, 74.69% and 62.50% reduction of population of dead heart, white ear head and leaf folder respectively. However, for the rice case worm, maximum reduction (73.68%) was found with the botanical, <i>Colocasia esculanta</i>. This study marks a significant stride toward the development of an improved integrated approach for the efficient management of rice pests, emphasizing sustainable practices, reduced reliance on harmful pesticides and provide strong foundation for multi season trials to validate the results.</p>
