<p>China’s potash is the scarcest strategic resource among the three major chemical fertilizers, but the consumption of potash fertilizer accounts for the first in the world. The domestic potash fertilizer production cannot meet the demand, and the import market exceeds 60%. The high price of imported potash fertilizer limits the majority of Chinese farmers from improving food production and increasing income, and it is urgent to overcome the key method of potash mining and guarantee the safe and efficient production of potash mines. Focusing on the two themes of potash mining methods and mining equipment, it has sorted out the history of the development of domestic and foreign potash hydraulic mining and machine mining methods. The characteristics of equipment such as excavation, transportation, and support in solid potash mine are introduced. It is concluded that there are some technical problems in the mining of solid potash, such as the tension of mining equipment in multiple panels, the low recovery rate of solid potash mining, the difficulty of filling body strength to meet the needs of pillar mining, the poor flexibility of solid potash mining, and the difficulty of roof water isolation in solid potash mines. The ideas of multipanel coordinated mining, short-wall mining system of special potash seams, hydraulic filling, and solid potash mine water-resisting mining are put forward, which provides a new idea for the development of solid potash resources and the guarantee of stable supply of strategic potash resources in China.</p>
