Analysis of Characteristics of Coal Mine Accidents in Shanxi Province, China, in 2022: Improving Safety Training Effectiveness by the “Interaction + Experience” Safety Training Method

Coal mine accident prevention remains a global imperative for ensuring energy security and sustainable development. To clarify the pattern of coal mine accidents in Shanxi Province and propose evidence-based safety interventions, this study integrates a multidimensional statistical analysis of accident data from 2022 with a mixed-methods pedagogical evaluation. An innovative “interaction + experience” training model was designed and assessed through a questionnaire survey, an analytic hierarchy process (AHP) for weight determination, and extension superiority modeling to quantify training efficacy. The research demonstrates significant geographical, monthly, enterprise attribute, and accident category distribution characteristics of coal mine accidents in Shanxi Province. The improvement of employees’ ability to investigate hidden dangers and their familiarity with their posts account for the largest weights across all evaluation indices. The “interaction + experience” safety training method outperformed traditional approaches in most evaluation metrics, achieving an overall efficacy improvement of 28.18%. These findings provide actionable guidance for strengthening accident prevention measures, reducing coal mine accident rates, and sustaining safety improvements in the coal production sector of Shanxi and other regions.
