Geophysics as a Tool for Classification of Mineral Resources in Aggregates Mining
摘要
The classification of mineral resources and reserves is required for compliance with national and international reporting standards in mineral exploration. This study presents the classification of mineral resources and reserves of aggregates for construction in a granite deposit in the Southeastern Region of Brazil. The classification of the deposit was carried out through a methodology based on the application of traditional and low-cost geophysical methods and techniques from refraction seismic and resistivity through vertical electrical sounding, as well as the modifying factors to convert mineral resources into mineral reserves according to the Brazilian commission of resources and reserves. The results obtained indicate the possibility of classification of mineral resources and reserves with materiality and transparency because of the abundance and homogeneity of rocks to produce aggregates compared to other mineral substances. This research demonstrates that the proposed approach represents a low-cost alternative to classifying mineral resources in the aggregates mining industry.
