<p>This study examines the public perception of the benefits of advanced aviation technology (AAT) and the extent to which people trust this technology in single-pilot operations (SPOs). Individuals must believe that the benefits of technology outweigh its perceived risks. Given the evolving public view regarding the benefits of AAT, researchers should administer surveys to ascertain changes in technological advancements. As such, this study builds on past research by scrutinizing the literature and utilizing an online survey platform to gather data, providing a thorough public opinion on safety and trust in SPOs. The results revealed that passengers’ confidence in new technology substantially influences their likelihood of using it. The complex psychological factors affecting this dynamic include perceived threat, control, familiarity, and technical transparency. Our research contributes to the field by extending existing studies that lack empirical data on commercial aviation using SPOs. To better understand related public perceptions, future research should conduct empirical longitudinal studies focusing on SPOs.</p>
