Structural reinforcement optimization of the ADM-1 railcar
摘要
Ensuring the structural integrity of railcars is crucial for safety, efficiency, and durability in urban transit systems. This study presents an optimized reinforcement strategy for the ADM-1 railcar, integrating computational modeling using MATHCAD and experimental validation to improve structural performance. The proposed reinforcement framework minimizes stress concentrations, enhances load distribution, and reduces material fatigue, leading to greater operational reliability based on stress reduction and fatigue resistance reserve evaluation. Based on comparative analysis conducted based on the MATHCAD analytical model and validation of the strain-gauge in-service, the analysis of the reinforcement increased the stiffness of the critical structural sections and reduced calculated stress levels under identical loading conditions. The original deformation under the same weight condition with the same relationship between the two analytical stiffness and deflection, and the proposed reinforcement required an additional structural mass of less than 8% of the original frame mass while significantly improving the stress distribution of the critical structural members. The research employs numerical simulations and real-world testing to validate the effectiveness of the reinforcement strategy, ensuring its practical feasibility. The study also considers variations in material properties, manufacturing tolerances, and environmental influences to enhance model accuracy. By integrating computational and experimental methods, the findings provide railway engineers, manufacturers, and urban transit authorities with actionable insights into improving railcar durability and efficiency. The methodology can be adapted for other railcar models, offering solutions for retrofitting aging rolling stock and enhancing the longevity of urban transit systems. Additionally, the study highlights future research directions, such as alternative materials, IoT-based predictive maintenance, and applications in high-speed rail. Implementing advanced monitoring techniques and reinforcement strategies can further improve operational efficiency, reducing maintenance costs and energy consumption.
