Der epileptologische Notfall
摘要
The epilepsy emergency is the sum of seizure-related events: the acute symptomatic seizure, the first epileptic seizure, series of seizures, status epilepticus, and seizure-related complications such as falls and injuries. In order to ensure adequate first aid for epileptic seizures, it is often useful to train relatives and friends of patients with epilepsy and to educate them about important first aid measures. Adequate education of the patients themselves is also necessary. In addition to providing information, there are two other important tasks for the practitioners in the emergency room: Firstly, further diagnostics, and secondly, appropriate and prompt treatment. To this end, it is necessary to know the differential diagnoses and causes of the epileptic seizure and to be able to take a specific medical history. If a seizure lasts more than 5 min, which is the definition of a status epilepticus, rapid treatment according to the specifications of the current step-by-step plan is necessary.
