Background <p>The occurrence of gastric stump carcinoma (GSC) is increasingly observed following pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), as its indications broaden and the number of long-term survivors continues to rise.</p> Cases Presentation <p>A 35-year-old female patient who had vague upper abdominal complaints for 45 days developed gastric stump carcinoma four years after pylorus preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic head carcinoid tumor. She had signet ring cell carcinoma involving the incisura angularis. Completion partial stump gastrectomy was done.</p> Conclusions <p>GSC is uncommon following a PD. However, early detection and intervention are essential, and heightened awareness of such cases is necessary.</p>

Background

The occurrence of gastric stump carcinoma (GSC) is increasingly observed following pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), as its indications broaden and the number of long-term survivors continues to rise.

Cases Presentation

A 35-year-old female patient who had vague upper abdominal complaints for 45 days developed gastric stump carcinoma four years after pylorus preserving pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic head carcinoid tumor. She had signet ring cell carcinoma involving the incisura angularis. Completion partial stump gastrectomy was done.

Conclusions

GSC is uncommon following a PD. However, early detection and intervention are essential, and heightened awareness of such cases is necessary.
