摘要

Introduction

The coexistence of different histologic tumor types within the same parotid gland is an exceptionally rare entity. This study aims to highlight the rarity of simultaneous incidence of pleomorphic adenoma and Warthin tumor in the same parotid gland.

Case Presentation

It is presented a case of a 55-year-old female with the combination of aforementioned tumors, emphasizing the rarity and diagnostic challenges of such cases. The patient reported no symptoms other than swelling in the right parotid region. Preoperative imaging and cytological evaluation did not identify the presence of two distinct tumors; instead, the lesion was initially interpreted as a single bifocal mass. A typical superficial parotidectomy, as the “gold standard” surgical method, was performed, and the patient had an uneventful recovery. The patient has been under regular follow-up for 3 years, with no evidence of recurrence. An extended review of the literature is also cited over the last 40 years. Review of the literature comprises 30 similar cases over the years.

Conclusion

The particular study emphasizes the clinical, radiologic, and histopathologic findings, offering insights into the diagnosis and management of such pathologies.
