<p>Gummy stem blight, caused by <i>Didymella bryoniae</i> (syn. <i>Stagonosporopsis cucurbitacearum</i>), is a major disease of cucurbits worldwide, leading to significant economic losses. This study assessed its prevalence in six major cucurbit-producing provinces of Iran (Tehran, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Isfahan, Khorasan Razavi, and southern Kerman) between 2021 and 2023. A total of 753 samples were collected from cucumbers, watermelons, cantaloupes, and melons in fields and greenhouses showing symptoms resembling gummy stem blight, such as irregular yellow-bordered leaf spots, stem gum secretion, and fruit rot. Isolates were identified using macroscopic and microscopic characteristics. The recovered fungi included <i>Fusarium</i> spp., Botrytis sp., <i>Alternaria</i> spp., <i>Pythium</i> sp., <i>Phytophthora</i> sp., <i>Sclerotinia</i> sp., and <i>Rhizoctonia</i> sp. Overall, <i>Fusarium</i> species were dominant, representing 680 isolates (91%) of the total samples. Despite comprehensive sampling and diagnostic efforts, <i>D. bryoniae</i> was not detected from any suspected samples. The absence of this pathogen highlights a favourable phytosanitary status in Iran, underscoring the effectiveness of current management and regulatory measures. These findings provide valuable baseline information for quarantine authorities and emphasize the need for continued monitoring to prevent future introductions of this destructive cucurbit pathogen.</p>
