<p>Over the last decade, leaf blight has emerged as the most important disease affecting date palms in Iran and has led to a decrease in date production. During 2016–2019, samples including various spots on leaflets, as well as yellowish, dried, and hanging leaves, were collected from five provinces of Iran<i>.</i>&#xa0;Nine fungal genera were identified, including the taxa of <i>Alternaria</i> spp.,<i> Aspergillus</i> sp., <i>Aureobasidium iranianum</i>,<i> Coniochaeta</i> sp., <i>Epicoccum</i> spp.,<i> Fusarium</i> spp., <i>Nigrospora</i> spp., <i>Stemphylium</i> spp. and <i>Trichothecium</i> sp. Pathogenicity of 14 isolates was proven to fulfill Koch’s postulate. In greenhouse conditions,<i> Alternaria</i> sp. 10-OL853550, <i>Aspergillus</i> sp.-OL853541, <i>Epicoccum</i> sp. 14- OL853535, <i>Stemphylium</i> sp. 1-OL853564, <i>Stemphylium</i> sp. 2-OL853564, and <i>Trichothecium</i> sp.-OL853536 produced leaflet brown spots, while <i>Aureobasidium iranianum</i>-OL853551, <i>Coniochaeta</i> sp.-OR708661,<i> Nigrospora</i> sp. 1-OL853538,&#xa0;and <i>Nigrospora</i> sp. 2-OL853563 produced leaflet yellowing. However, <i>Fusarium</i> sp. 1-OL853561 and <i>Fusarium</i> sp. 4 (isolate-426) caused the drying of leaflets. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of the pathogenicity of<i> Aureobasidium iranianum</i>, <i>Epicoccum</i> spp., <i>Nigrospora</i> spp. and <i>Trichothecium</i> sp. on date palm leaves in Iran. These findings will help in guiding research on management of palm leaf blight.</p>
