Disciplinary and Interdisciplinary Education in STEM: Changes and Innovations
摘要
In recent years, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education has adapted to the demands of the twenty-first century. An interdisciplinary approach that combines and integrates various fields of science has emerged as a response and solution to current environmental problems. An example of STEM learning is augmented reality (AR) technology, which combines digital elements into the real world. AR does not replace the physical environment but adds a layer of information or virtual objects to the user’s view. Virtual reality (VR) technology creates an entirely digital environment, replacing the real world with a virtual world developed to provide a more interactive, innovative, and comprehensive learning experience. It allows students to explore virtual laboratories or interact with manipulated three-dimensional (3D) models, making abstract and complex material easier to understand. Developments like these prove that traditional approaches are no longer the only option in STEM education, but have transformed to meet the demands of today and the future.
