摘要

This study aims to synthesize double perovskite oxide (Ce2CuFeO6) nanomaterial and evaluate their efficiency in photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B (Rho-B) and methyl orange (MO) dyes. Wet chemical co-precipitation method was explored to synthesize a new nanophotocatalysts. Photocatalytic degradation of aqueous solution of Rho-B and MO dyes under visible light was studied by using novel rare earth double perovskite oxide (Ce2CuFeO6) as a photocatalyst. Structural, morphological and optical parameters were determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron microscope (SEM), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Fourier Transform Infrared Ray (FTIR) and UV–visible spectroscopic techniques. The effect of operating parameters such as amount of catalyst, time, the initial concentration of a dye, and the effect of pH were studied on the rate of dyes degradation. Under the optimum conditions 96.41% degradation of MO and 97.50% degradation of Rho-B were observed. The catalytic degradation of both the dyes follow the Pseudo-first order kinetics. Double perovskite oxide, have unique structural and electronic properties, displayed great potential as photocatalysts due to their high stability, tunable band gaps and enhanced charge separation capabilities. The authors recommend the use of double perovskite oxide for the catalytic degradation of methyl orange and rhodamine B.
