Mastering the Art: Crafting Efficient Piezo-Catalysts and Piezo-Photocatalysts for Optimal Organic Pollutant Degradation
摘要
Photocatalysis and piezocatalysis are two interesting methods for environmental remediation that utilize renewable forms of energy, such as visible light and mechanical energy. Recently, there has been attention towards combining these two methods, known as piezo-photocatalysis. However, it is crucial to understand the parameters that affect the efficiency of photocatalysis and peizocatalysis to design an efficient piezo-photocatalyst. For instance, while increasing temperature is favorable for photocatalysis reactions, it leads to a decrease in the efficiency of piezocatalysis. Our review has revealed some interesting findings about photocatalysis and piezocatalysis reactions. It appears that photocatalysis reactions tend to be endothermic, meaning they require an input of energy to proceed. On the other hand, piezocatalysis reactions tend to be exothermic, meaning they release energy as they proceed. This distinction is important to note, as it can have significant implications for the design and optimization of catalytic reactions in various applications. This review delves into the features of photocatalysts and piezocatalysts, their mechanisms, and the various parameters that impact their efficiency in detail.
