Faba bean is the most cultivated food legume in the world and Ethiopia is the second-largest producer to China. A combined analysis of variance showed a significant difference among faba bean genotypes with respect to the disease incidence, severity and area under disease progress curve at both locations. The lowest disease incidence, disease severity and AUDPC were recorded from genotypes Dosha, Obse, Wolkie, and FB-26,869 at Legambo and Tenta in both cropping years. Moreover, the highest AUDPC values were shown by genotypes EH96048-1, EH00102-8-1, EH97091-2, Gora and Local Legambo and Tenta. Combined analysis was significant for both yield and yield component of faba bean genotype. The highest yield was obtained from genotypes Dosha, Obse and Wolkie at Legambo and Tenta districts. The yield of faba bean correlated negatively and significantly with disease parameter at both locations and seasons. From this study it can be concluded that relatively resistant and high yielder genotypes can be used in combination with locally available management options. Therefore, it is recommended that future research should focus on the development and deployment of more resistant and high yielder genotypes tested at different locations in the major faba bean growing areas of northeastern Ethiopia.

摘要

Faba bean is the most cultivated food legume in the world and Ethiopia is the second-largest producer to China. However, Faba bean is attacked by numerous pathogenic fungi wherever the crop is grown. Thus, this study was conducted with the aim to evaluate the response some of faba bean genotypes against faba bean gall caused by Physoderma viciae at Legambo and Tenta Districts in 2022 and 2023 cropping seasons.
