<p>Tomato leaf curl Sudan virus (ToLCSDV) is a member of the genus <i>Begomovirus</i> of the <i>Geminiviridae</i> family; it is transmitted by the whitefly <i>Bemesia tabaci</i> and developing a wide range of disease symptoms including leaf curling and yellowing, and stunted growth. ToLCSDV causes a serious threat to tomato production leading to reduced yield and quality of infected plants. In this study, the full-genome sequence of the Jordanian isolate of ToLCSDV (ToLCSDV-[JO: AlHomra:20]) (Accession no. MW429834) has been characterized and analyzed. Sequence alignment and phylogenetic analysis indicated that ToLCSDV-[JO: AlHomra:20] is closely related to ToLCSDV isolates from Saudi Arabia. An infectious clone of ToLCSDV-[JO: AlHomra:20] has been constructed and used to inoculate different plant species. Tomato (<i>Solanum lycopersicum</i> L.) and <i>Nicotiana benthamiana</i> were the only plant species that developed disease symptoms. A preliminary seed transmission test indicated that ToLCSDV-[JO: AlHomra:20] is not seed transmitted in tomatoes.</p>
