Identification of Colletotrichum cymbidiicola as the agent of Dendrobium nobile anthracnose and its sensitivity to fungicides
摘要
Dendrobium nobile is an important traditional Chinese medicinal herb known for its various benefits, including blood sugar reduction. However, the anthracnose of D. nobile was recently observed to be widespread in Guizhou province. To effectively and safely control these diseases, it is crucial to correctly identify the pathogen. In this study, we collected leaves showing typical anthracnose symptoms, and these leaves were isolated by tissue isolation and single-conidium culture. Through morphological observations and multi-gene phylogenetic analysis, the isolated strains were identified as Colletotrichum cymbidiicola. Additionally, the inhibitory effects of nine synthetic fungicides on the pathogen were measured using hyphal growth inhibition rate. Among the tested fungicides, 25% prochloraz emulsifiable concentrates exhibited the strongest inhibitory effect, with an EC50 of 0.0938 µg/mL. This study is the first to report C. cymbidiicola as a pathogen on D. nobile, and the selected fungicides can be used for field trials to control the disease.
