<p>Brown sarson (<i>Brassica rapa</i> var. brown sarson) is a major oilseed crop grown under conserved moisture in the temperate regions of Jammu &amp; Kashmir. A field experiment was conducted during rabi seasons of 2022–23 and 2023–24 to assess the impact of two crop establishment methods and four weed control treatments on rapeseed productivity. Seed yield varied significantly across years, with a 35% increase observed in 2023–24 (Y2) over 2022–23 (Y1). Aqua seeding (M2) outperformed conventional seeding (M1), yielding 1316&#xa0;kg ha⁻¹ and registering a 9.9% improvement. Among weed management strategies, application of pendimethalin (1&#xa0;kg a.i. ha⁻¹) followed by hand weeding (W1) achieved the highest weed control efficiency (85%) and seed yield increase (68%) over the weedy check. This was closely followed by pendimethalin fb quizalofop-ethyl (60&#xa0;g a.i. ha⁻¹) (W2), with 68% weed control efficiency and a 47% yield gain. Both aqua seeding and the integrated weed management treatments (W1 and W2) proved more energy-efficient compared to other practices. The findings suggest that adopting aqua seeding combined with pendimethalin-based integrated weed management enhances yield potential and input-use efficiency in rainfed brown sarson cultivation in temperate agro-ecologies.</p>
